ABOUT ROBERT LUMPP Captain Robert Lumpp, born and raised in Mattoon, IL, started his professional career at 15 as an announcer on his hometown radio station. Thinking broadcasting would continue to be his professional calling, he worked on radio and TV stations in IL, MI, IN and WA. He was involved in TV production, commercial art and advertising, while enjoying his boating hobby. His love of boating brought him to Hannibal, MO, hometown of Mark Twain, where for 25 years he operated the Mark Twain Riverboat Company. Lumpp, a former serviceman, began to feel patriotism was on the wane in the US, and many citizens didn't respect the flag. An impressionist artist friend who was painting flags at the time challenged him to paint a flag realistically, and thus his painting career was born. He now lives in Hobe Sound, FL, and owns the Hobe Sound Art Gallery. His FL landscape paintings now join his flags there as well as in Mountain Mist Gallery.
