About Doug Jones
Ceramic artist Doug Jones has been handcrafting stoneware pottery for over 46 years. As a child, he found the magic of clay in high school art classes. After graduation, Jones toured Europe and came back to Florida ready to set the world on fire.
While working toward his Associate Arts degree from Florida Junior College, many fine art instructors helped Jones fine tune his skills, and it was there he developed his love for clay. Many workshops later, all the while playing with clay as a hobby and working as the Planning and Zoning Director for County Government for over 20 years, Jones began making pottery full time.
Jones Pottery was born in 1998, with son Chris joining him in his studio on Amelia Island (FL). Chris went off to seek his own vision in 2003, and Doug grew ever more serious about his pottery. He showed his work in many art shows, then opened Amelia Island Pottery. He continues to sell his work in various coastal galleries, most recently joining Mountain Mist Gallery showing his bear-themed work.
