About Carol Ferony Carol Ferony grew up in New York, just north of Manhattan. Her approach to the pastel medium is one of exploration and discovery. As a graphic artist, her intent is to challenge the visual perspective by creating works that have a 3D feel in a 2D format. Carol's work is the union of basic drawing techniques and an unorthodox formulation. She says her overall ambition is to creative images with multiple levels of interest. She uses primarily drawing techniques in her work with soft pastels. Progressing from dark to light, the works are crated with a structured process of applying six to ten layers of crossing-hatching color over color thus producing a textural effect and an interesting depth perspective. Oil pastels require a reverse building process that starts from light to dark. She combines various techniques in the initial work with oil pastels. The blending sequence produces a more subtle color pallet than that created in her soft pastels. Each work is finished with overlay etching of both planned and random design. Carol says "A painting is never static. The artist's concept is voiced through individual interpretations of a perceived universe which, if you will, is comprised of ever-changing personal experiences. While the collective association of structural elements, rhythm, balance and the energy they create are integral to my work, I consider composition the primary essential."
